Who is eligible for Head Start?

Children from birth to age five and pregnant women from families with low income, according to the Poverty Guidelines published by the Federal government, are eligible for Head Start services.

Children in foster care, homeless children, and children from families receiving public assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or Supplemental Security Income) are also eligible for Head Start services regardless of income.

Families with a child on an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) or an Individual Education Plan (IEP) should apply regardless of income as 10% of enrollment is reserved for these circumstances.

A percentage of children above the poverty guideline can also be served depending on family income and needs.

You can access the Poverty Guidelines at the link below.
